Verdanterra assisted with Downeast LNG’s development of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) import/export terminal and natural gas pipeline in eastern Maine. The project includes a 47-acre port facility and a 30-mile natural gas pipeline. The proposed development includes an associated pier facility extending approximately 3,300 feet from shore into Passamaquoddy Bay. This complex project required extensive natural resources evaluation and environmental permitting. Our staff directed consultant natural resources field work and was the lead in all permitting documentation, FERC application development, Biological Assessments (USFWS and NMFS), and assisting the overall site prospecting and route selection process.
